// FAQ
Common questions about PLA Silk.
Which printers work with Chroma Forge Silk™?+

All major FDM printers — Bambu Lab, Creality, Prusa, Elegoo, and Anycubic. Use standard silk PLA profiles; no special settings required.

Why does silk PLA cost more than standard PLA?+

Silk PLA uses dual-pigment formulations that require tighter manufacturing tolerances to maintain sheen consistency. The visual payoff is significant.

Do I need a hardened nozzle for silk PLA?+

No. Silk PLA is not abrasive — brass nozzles work fine.

Can I print silk fast?+

Reduce speed to 40–60mm/s for best results. Higher speeds reduce the sheen effect and can cause layer inconsistency.

Is silk PLA strong?+

Silk PLA is slightly more brittle than standard PLA due to the pigment loading. Use it for display pieces, not structural parts.
